Dyslexia Assignment
This assignment provides scenarios related to each of the course units which you will need to answer. In addition evidence of a completed assignment from each of the units needs to be submitted.
The following assignment template questions are below. Place the topic assignments as an appendix. Please clearly reference the unit and topic to which the assignment relates.
Assignment template
With reference to Unit 1
In Home Economics students are asked to plan and cost out a meal for two people within a given budget.
- Describe the areas of difficulty a student with dyslexia may have that could affect their ability to complete the task.
With reference to Unit 2
In a Geography subject there is a unit on the economic migration. The student has to learn about and be able to identify the push and pull factors that influence the decision to move between areas. With reference to this scenario:
- describe how you would use appropriate strategies to help the student to remember the key push and pull factors;
- suggest how the use of appropriate technology might make a positive difference to the student in note taking and typing.
With reference to Unit 3
An exam section requires the student to answer questions explaining the importance of eating balanced nutritional meals and the effects of not doing so. With reference to the above scenario:
- consider what kind of Reasonable Adjustments and Access Arrangements may be appropriate for a student taking such an exam;
- give an example of at least one revision strategy a student could use to help them remember key facts, organise their ideas and structure their answer.
